TIME

“There is a time for every purpose under heaven”(Eccl 3:1). The list here has 26 things for which there is an appropriate time: to speak – to be silent; to be born – to die; to kill – to heal; to weep – to laugh, etc. As we turn our calendars to the New Year, our thoughts go to TIME. Only with God there is no time: past, present or future. He is the great “I Am,” the eternal instant! Only He knows the end from the beginning. Today, January 1, 2011, consider three things for Christians that are connected with an appointed time: 1. THE TIME is set at the “first day of the week” for Christians’ worship assembly to partake of the Lord’s Supper and to contribute to the work of God (Acts 20:7; I Cor 16:1-2; Heb 10:25). 2. THE TIME for women to be quiet is during the assembly of praise. They are not allowed “to teach or to have authority over a man” (I Tim 2:12). 3. THE TIME for acappella music is in the worship of the church (Eph 5:19; Col 3:16).
