MAN OF SIN

A new pope was selected March 14, 2013, professing himself to be “Vicar” (substitute) of Christ. Few realize that the papacy is a fulfillment of biblical prophecy. Catholic dogmas of celibacy of priests and prohibition of eating meats are also prophesied in the Bible
(I Tim 4: 1- 4).
“The day of the Lord will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and is exalted above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he sits in the temple of God and gives himself out as if he were God.” (2 Thess 2:2-4, Catholic Douay Version).
This “apostasy” (falling away) from the truth would come before Jesus returns, long before any person would call himself “Roman Catholic.” The first man to call himself “universal bishop” or “pope” was Boniface III in 670 AD. Peter, a married man, preached eastward toward Babylon, not westward toward Rome (I Pet
5:13). He would not allow men to bow down to him (Acts
10:25-26). Jesus, not Peter, was “the rock” on which the church was built (Mt 16:16-18; Eph 2:20; I Pet 2:6).
A blind eye is turned to child molestation and rape by clergy, by-products of false requirements of clergy celibacy (Heb 13:4)
