FORK IN THE ROAD
Proof of the wisdom and plan of God was seen last week at the College Hill Church of Christ.
The splendid sermon Sunday morning by minister Robert Waller, “The Fork In The Road,” set the theme for the day. He read the famous poem, “The Road Not Taken,” by Robert Frost projected on the screen, followed by Bible verses focusing attention of everyone, particularly the eight graduating seniors from families in the congregation, on choices all must make in life. We cannot choose both ways. Shall I worship God or not, and if so, where and how shall I worship? He spoke from Joshua: “Choose you this day whom you shall serve … but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Josh 14:15) Preacher Robert then directed the charge to the graduates: “Choose whom you will serve today! It is your choice.” Jesus said His followers must be on the strait (difficult) and narrow way where only a few would be; not following the broad way with the masses (Mt 7:13-14). [Even as he spoke, murderous bikers had chosen the broad road in Waco, murdering and wounding many!]
An engraved Bible was presented to each of the graduates, followed by prayers for them. After the evening service, a fellowship meal was enjoyed by everyone. Each graduate with his or her family stood and proclaimed glory and thanks to God for His many blessings in the past as well as petitioning for continuing guidance and protection for each young man and woman embarking on life’s journey.
