Over 70% of high school dropouts come from homes where there is no father. A large percentage of students in grades 1-12 come from homes where the mother has abandoned the children’s biological father, or vice-versa. The Bible calls on men to become strong godly leaders in their homes. God ordained that the father’s family role is head of the wife, the same as Christ is the head of the spiritual family, the church (Eph 5:22-33). This ‘chain’ of authority is repeated in such passagesasICorinthians11:3:“The head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.” The man who loves his wife loves himself. Together they train their children. Jim Hawkins, family counselor and minister, wrote: “Family unity is the most dominant thing that brings peace of mind and contentment in our relationship with God.” Tim Wildmon, president of American Family Association, says: “Men, it’s time to stand up and lead.”
The wife who does not submit to the leadership of her husband frustrates God’s plan for the family. God made her for the man to be his helper (Genesis 2:18-25), contrary to womens’liberation doctrine.
In 1966 Lyndon Johnson issued a presidential proclamation that Father’s Day be observed the 3rd Sunday of June. The first observance was in 1908 following a mining disaster when 250 fathers were killed, leaving over 1,000 fatherless children in Fairmont, W VA.
