WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?

Two preachers were in jail singing, still preaching and serving God. Suddenly they were freed! Their jailer, about to commit suicide, cried out: “What must I do to be saved?” A true story (Acts 16:16-40).

There are all sorts of answers to his question today. Not “What can I do to be more popular,” or “to increase my bank account?” Or “What must the church or the government do?” Not “What must I say or think but DO.

There is only one power of God to save me. It is “the truth,” “the gospel.” Read Jn 14:15; 15:14; Mt 7:24; Jn 9:4; Rev 22:12. It is an imperative question: “What MUST I do?” “What is NECESSARY for ME to DO?” Nothing can be deleted or changed.

What is the answer in your Bible? “You must be born again!” (Jn 3:3-5) How? 1st. You MUST believe Jesus is the Son of God (Mt:28:18-20; Mk 16:16). 2nd You MUST repent of sins (Lk 13:3). 3rd You MUST confess faith in Jesus (Rom 10:10; Acts 8:37). 5th You MUST be baptized, immersed for forgiveness (Ac 2:38; 22:16; Rom 6:3-6; Gal 3:27).

Cut this out and carry it wherever you go. Learn it. Obey it. Make copies. Tell neighbors, friends, people in jail – “every creature!” (Mark 16:15-16). If you do, you will have obeyed God and will save yourself and others in this “crooked generation” (Deut. 32:5) from eternal punishment in hell (Mt 25:46; James 5:20).
