FORNICATION & ADULTERY

Fornication occurs when an unmarried man and an unmarried woman engage in sexual intercourse. Adultery is when a married man and a married woman have sexual intercourse but they are not married to each other. If an unmarried person has intercourse with someone who is married, the first commits fornication, the second, adultery. God said: “Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers … nor homosexual … shall inherit the kingdom of God” (I Cor 6:9-10). Fact: sexual intercourse outside of marriage is sin. Every Christian should resolve: “We have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God” (2 Cor 4:2). Fornication has become an epidemic. Some surveys report 80% of America’s teenagers are “sexually active” – today’s euphemism (inoffensive term) for “sexually sinful.” Peer pressure is the foremost cause of fornication among the youth of today. The flood of movies, TV shows, pornography, novels and bad examples set by parents also erode the purity of young minds. Resolve: “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you” (Psa 119:11). Ask for free booklet: Sexual Sins.
