ONE HOPE
There are 5 grim facts we must all face: 1. Life (Rom 14:7). 2. Death (Heb 9:27). 3. Resurrection (Jn 5:28-29). 4. Judgment Day (2 Cor 5:10). 5. Eternity in heaven or hell (Mt 25:46). Death must come to us all, but the when and how are uncertain. Life is brief (Job 14:1-2) and we must all face God for judgment after death. Because of Christ’s death and resurrection (I Cor 15), there is hope for us beyond the grave to be raised and go to heaven. This is our “one hope” (Eph 4:4-6). Because of Him, we look “for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13). This is “a living hope … an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled … reserved in heaven for you, who by the power of God are guarded by faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time” (1 Pet 1:3-5). Faith and devotion to Jesus and His Word give us hope of life in heaven. We do not hope to live on this earth; with all its elements it will pass away with fervent heat (2 Pet 3:7-10).
