SCRIPTURE IS INSPIRED
“Every scripture is inspired of God” (2 Tim 3:16). All that is in the Bible is “Godbreathed,” is directly from His mouth. There is no other book like the Bible. All other books are from the mind of man. The books of the Old Testament and the books of the New Testament constitute what is recognized as the ‘canon’ or collection of inspired revelation from God. Peter wrote that “no prophecy had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1:20-21). Other writings were rejected as ‘spurious.’ By the early 2nd century only the 27 books of the New Testament were recognized as God’s word along with what Jesus said had been written in the O.T. about Him in “the law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” He fulfilled all the Old Testament said about Him (Luke 24:44). Men did not give the Bible, nor was the selection of what books are authentic left to man. That was long before the first ‘ecumenical church council.’ The Bible is God’s book, given to the church, not by the church. Ask for fuller study on Inspiration.
