WATER
WATER is vital to man’s existence, but it also is capable of destroying him. Every creature on earth that breathed, except Noah and the 8 souls and the pairs of animals that entered the ark, were killed by water (Gen 6). The water that saved him and his family destroyed all others. This is a figure of how God saves all who are baptized to wash away their sins today (Acts 22:16; I Peter 3:20-21). Later, the Israelites were saved by water when they were “baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea” (Ex 14:30; I Cor 10:2). But the Egyptians were destroyed by the same water. Naaman dipped in the Jordan to cleanse him of his leprosy (2 Kings 5), and Nicodemus had to be born of water and spirit to enter the kingdom of God (Jn 3:5). The inspired words of the Bible are vital to man’s understanding of God. The Bible’s 66 books are God’s holy word (2 Tim 2:15; 3:16-17). These books will be open and will judge every man in the last Great Day (Rev 20:12: 2 Cor 5:10). “Sing them over again to me! Wonderful words of life and beauty, teach me faith and duty!” (Philip Bliss, 1874)
