HUMILITY

His first book was “Humility and How I Attained It”. It did not sell. I have been accused of being proud, but not humble. What about you? A brother was given the “Most Humble” button, but when he wore it, they took it away. We talk about humility, but we don’t study it. It takes a big person to be humble. Only God teaches humility: “Do justly…love mercy …walk humbly with your God” (Mic 6:8). How else could a man walk with God? Humility is really honesty, integrity, obedience. “Be clothed in humility, for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God” (I Pet 5:5-6). Humility is positive, not negative. Christians live to obey, to overcome, to win. Jesus said, “Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (Jn 16:33). Jesus obeyed His Father in all ways; He did nothing on His own (John 8:28). Paul served God with humility and with many tears (Ac 20:19). Humility is boldness in obedience. We are commanded to enter the throne of grace boldly (Heb 4:16). That is why humility does not come easy or cheap: “Jesus humbled himself and became obedient unto death—even death on a cross!” (Phil 2:8)
