MY SERVANT
He was true and faithful, God-fearing, always helping the poor. Listen to God speaking to satan: “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.” (Job 1:8) Suffering that befell Job would cause many of us to turn away from God. But notice: “Through all this Job did not sin nor did he blame God.” (Job 1:22) Even his wife told him to “curse God and die.” (Job 2:9) What an example of faith and integrity! When things go bad, we should remember Job as an example. He said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I shall return.” (Job 1:21) He also asked: “Shall we indeed accept good from God and not accept adversity?” God is faithful. He promised to reward those who love and obey Him. Paul suffered many things for speaking truth for the sake of Christ (see 2 Cor 11:16-33). “All who live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” (2 Tim 3:12) “Be faithful unto death and I will give you the crown of life!” (Rev 2:10).
