HEART OF COMPASSION
When Jesus “saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.” (Mt 9:36) “Compassion” here is from the strongest word in the Greek language showing “no pity or compassion.” Today you may also see people who are “weary and scattered.” Some have been beaten down by circumstances beyond their control. Others because of their own bad choices, and some are victims of abuses by enemies, friends or even family. They may be hungry or cold or naked or in prison. Some have lost their way, groping for answers and wondering how the Lord can forgive their sins. How will this affect you? What will your response be? Will you be too busy with your own interests and pursuits to care about others? Will you show pity and compassion? Jesus said if we fail to show compassion to a person in need, we sin against Jesus Himself. Judgment on the Last Day will be without mercy to him. They will hear the words: “Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” (Mt 25:31-40) How may we help you, weary soul? Test us today!
