GUITARS, DRUMS, KIDS

When kids get up to 10 or 15 years old they want their own guitar and drum. Now we see immature adults, often preachers and elders, who think they need a band to entice and entertain ‘the unchurched’ into worshiping God. From time to time we hear leaders in a congregation who announce their decision to depart from the old prescribed way of Christian worship (2 Tim 4:1-4; Acts 20:25-31). Only acappella singing (no instrument) is authorized in the Bible worship pattern for Christians (Eph 5:19; Col 3:16). Jesus is the head of the church. He has “all authority” (Eph 1:22; Mt 28:18; Col 1:18). Faithful Christians only support and follow what Jesus and His apostles authorized.
“But the Bible does not say not to!” Nor does it forbid burning incense, infant baptism, rosaries and over 250 other religious things (ask for free list).
“But our young people want it!” Who should lead the church: Christ or what the youth want? Teens love to dance and clap also. Should leaders provide that for them also?
Over 200 churches of Christ in the Fort Worth/Dallas area hold to Bible worship patterns by singing only, without adding clapping, dancing or instrumental music.
