RECONCILE
When sinful man comes back to God, God grants His favor anew. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom 3:23). The pay man gets for his sin is eternal punishment and separation from God: “The wages of sin is death” (Rom 6:23). When we were born, our pure spirit came from God. But when we came to the age of accountability (the time of being responsible for our acts of rebellion and “transgression” of His righteous law), we all violated and offended His perfect holiness. Our “sins separated us from God” (Isa 59:2, Rom 5:10; I Cor 7:11; 2 Cor 5:18-19).
God created man to be His worshiper, to praise and serve Him (Jn 4:24). But it was not long until Adam and Eve disobeyed Him and were driven in shame from His Holy presence. Later Cain sinned. As time unfolded down to Noah’s time, all the earth was filled with wickedness (Gen 6). Only eight souls in all the earth were saved from and through the waters of the flood (I Peter 3:20-21). This salvation was a figure (or type) to teach us that “baptism now saves us” (I Pet 3:20-21).
If you want to be brought back into the favor of God, “reconciled” to Him, you must listen to Him and obey His terms. Believe Jesus is God’s Son, confess your faith in Him and be “baptized (immersed) for the forgiveness of your sins” (Acts 2:38).
