A “BUCKET LIST” is the popular term for a list of experiences or achievements someone wants to complete or accomplish before he or she dies. Maybe it is a trip to a fabulous foreign place, running a marathon or some other dream or attainment long sought after.
Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it” (Mt 16:24-25NIV). How do we let go of our own desires and dreams so that we can take hold of the life which is life indeed, the life to which God calls us?
Are these important things in your Bucket list?
Have I turned away from sin in my life? If I fail in this, Jesus said I will “perish” (Lk 13:1-5).
Have I confessed my faith in Jesus as the Son of God? If I am ashamed or fail to do this, Jesus will not confess me before God Almighty in the Last Great Day of Judgment (Rom 10: 10).
Have I been immersed in the waters of baptism for the forgiveness of my sins (Acts 2:38; 22:16; I Pet 3:21)?
Have I resolved to meet with Christians for worship each first day of the week (Sunday), and to live faithfully to Him till I “kick the bucket” (Heb 10:25; Acts 20:7; Rev 2: 1O)?
