3000 SAVED

The apostles used no gimmicks, prizes or promotions. They just “preached Christ and him crucified” (I Cor 2:2). It was 7 weeks after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. The 12 apostles were in Jerusalem when “suddenly there came from heaven a sound” that filled the house. They began to speak in other languages by the power of the Holy Spirit. This attracted a huge multitude, and Peter began to preach about Jesus whom they had just lawlessly slain by crucifixion. Peter explained this Anointed One whom they murdered was the Son of God.
When the crowd heard this, “they were cut to their heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Brothers what shall we do?’ Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit’” (Acts 2:37-47). Those who received his word were baptized (immersed), and about 3,000 souls were added to the church that day as they were being saved.
They were saved by God’s grace through obedient faith and baptism (Lk 19:10; I Tim 1:15; Tit 2:11-12; Eph
2:8-9; Jn 8:24; Heb 11:6; Jn 3:16; Acts 4:12; Jn 20:31; Rom1:16; I Cor 15:2; Mk 16:15-16; Ac 22:16). There were no ‘sinner’s prayers for salvation.
